IMPALA Road, going between Kliprivier Drive and Main Road / Swartkoppies Road, has seen many accidents occurring along this stretch over the years, some fatal.
Recently, traffic lights were installed at the intersection of Impala and Springbok roads, resulting in drivers having to slow down or come to a stop.
“I was determined to get traffic lights at this intersection,” said Ward 23 DA councillor, Sarah Wissler, “and at last it’s a reality.”

“I’m hoping the new budget with capital expenditure for Ward 23 will allow for street lights in Francis Road, Patlynn and surrounding roads,” added Wissler.
She advised that if you see a street light which isn’t working, report it. It shouldn’t take longer than a week to fix unless there’s a cable fault, the traffic light has been knocked down in an accident or the light has been vandalised.
“A R90-million budget has been allocated for the upgrade to Mulbarton Substation over three years, which should eliminate problems associated with this substation.”
There is an epidemic of dumping in Ward 23. “This is totally unacceptable and if a resident sees someone dumping, please try and take a photo of the registration number of the vehicle involved and phone the Illegal Dumping Line on 082 779 1361.”
Wissler is encouraging residents, in cases where they are building or revamping, to hire a skip to put on their pavement which will take all their building rubble and rubbish.
“If we all do our bit in Ward 23, it will be a pleasurable place to reside,” added Wissler.
