Site inspection for 116 units at Barnacle Road, Turffontein, bordering onto Okadene’s Soutpansberg Drive

The meeting allowed both the applicants and the objectors to state their cases and the whole proceedings were conducted in a very professional and impartial manner.

A PROPOSED development of four storey units, 116 in total, is being considered for land at the bottom end of Barnacle Road, Turffontein, bordering onto Okadene’s Soutpansberg Drive.

A site meeting took place on October 31where the residents raised concerns to council members who were in attendance. Some of the concerns included the height of the proposed development, problems with the infrastructure and sewage spills which would possibly worsen after the new development, as well as more traffic in the area.

The meeting proceeded to the municipal offices in Johannesburg for the hearing.

According to one of the residents who attended the meeting, the council raised the issue of the height of the proposed buildings. “The meeting allowed the applicants and the objectors to state their case and the whole proceedings were conducted in a very professional and impartial manner and we feel that the issue will be fairly evaluated,” said an Oakdene resident who lives on Soutpansberg Drive.
