Man (35) caught red handed cutting copper cable at La Rochelle

This is the second suspect to be arrested in the same area, the first suspect was arrested on Saturday 27th of October 2018.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Officers arrested a 35 year old male while on patrol, the suspect was found inside a trench where he was cutting copper cable at corner Glenavon Road and Glenest Road La Rochelle on Thursday November 1, 2018.

The suspect was taken to Moffatveiw SAPS where a case of Distruction of Essential Infrastructure was opened and registered. This is the second suspect to be arrested in the same area, the first suspect was arrested on Saturday 27th of October 2018.

The area has been identified as a hot spot for this type of crime, Operation Buya-Mthetho will also prioritise the area because we want to send a strong massage to our community that we are not going to allow crimals to take over or tamper with City infrastructure.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department will not rest until these suspects find themselves behind bars.
