If you happen to receive a call from a police official informing you that your stolen vehicle has been recovered, and that you are required to pay money into a bank account before you can get you vehicle back, this is illegal.

You are requested to please report the matter to your nearest police station immediately.

Even though the information which is supplied to you regarding your vehicle is correct, you are requested to contact the detective branch where the case was reported and confirm the information with the investigating officer.
