Help Booysens residents to keep their community clean

Cleaning of community in full swing.

BOOYSENS residents took it upon themselves to clean up the Booysens informal settlement for two weeks with the help of Siemers Company.

Residents cleaned toilets, streets, abandoned shacks and dumping sites. This initiative was welcomed by Siemers Company in Booysens who ended up giving some compensation to the cleaners but only for two weeks.

One of the residents who was involved in the cleaning of the community told COURIER if they can get funding the settlement will forever be clean.

“We as the residents need sponsorships on plastics bags, cleaning tools and more importantly compensation for our time in cleaning so that we can be able to feed our families. All the residents from the settlement want us to continue cleaning to keep our community clean,” said Jacob Tau, a resident.
