RESIDENTS in the southern areas welcomed spring in the old fashion way by splashing each other with water.
Old and young alike filled buckets with water and enjoyed splashing water around. The streets of Turffontein, Rosettenville, Haddon and Booysens were packed with individuals saying goodbye to winter and welcome warmer weather (until Monday that is).
A resident, Nokuthula Shazi, told the COURIER they always play with water on Spring Day and they loved getting wet under the warmer rays of the sun.
“This is something that happens once a year. We are obliged to enjoy this day and have some fun with everyone playing with water. This is to say goodbye winter and welcome spring with shining days. Most children from other suburbs are also welcoming spring in the same manner,” said Nokuthula.
