VIDEOS: COJ offers 100K reward for information on Eikenhof transformer fire

Each transformer costs approximately R30m.

A reward of R100 000 has been offered by the City of Johannesburg following the suspected sabotage in the Eikenhof substation fire on Monday, August 27.

“The extent of the damage and the critical role of this substation, we’ve made an offer of a R100 000 to anyone who can come out with information that can assist us in uncovering this criminality,” said the City Mayor, Herman Mashaba.

According the City Power CEO, Lerato Setshedi, each transformer costs approximately R30m.

Electricity has been fully restored throughout the city but water is yet to be fully restored as the substations still need to be refilled.
