Comments from ANC and Sanco on South Hills development

"People want houses.”

Mbongeni Ndlazi, ANC branch chairperson of Ward 57, said, “The ANC supports the course of the residents to be prioritised in the South Hills development. We condemn any form of violence and disruptions. All we want is proper engagement with the mayor on this issue. We all belong to the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco), which is spearheading this course, and we are siding with the residents. Also, the ANC did not provide the said pamphlet. We do, however, understand where those who did provide it come from. People want houses.”

Masumpa Walaza, Sanco chairperson of Ward 57, said, “The mayor violated the constitution himself by not engaging with us on August 22, he used the other entrance to the South Hills development while we were waiting for him to address us. He cannot run the city the way he is doing it. We respect the laws and all we wanted was to negotiate for our people to get the houses. The ANC, EFF and the DA are supporting us in this regard, to get our people into these houses.”
