Rapper states his claim on the music industry

Dawgtah’s music to be a big hit.

FASHION, dance, visual arts and music are the common tools of expression Dawgtah uses.

Lesego Mphela (29), or rather Dawgtah, a rapper and ghost-writer from Mondeor, is making waves in the hip-hop scene with his diverse style of writing which radiates a pleasant streetwise dialect that connects with audiences of all kinds.

His music is more about telling his story – how he was brought up and what inspired him to pursue music. He believes since some of the renowned artists have come from the South, he must work hard in order to make it big in the music industry.

“The Southern area is rearing its ‘underdog’ status and finally taking an even bigger stance in offering its contribution into the creative atmosphere – submitting a plethora of gifted artists who are making moves and branding their music well enough to catch the attention of the industry, marking their place in the domain,” said Lesego.

His latest hit single, Thambo Lam, is a great example of finding love in the typical Southern subculture lifestyle. Having worked with prominent artists such as Neo Beats, Gigi Lamayne, Deep Level, Red Button, and Omen, Dawgtah is surely claiming his place in the industry.

Asking him about his philosophy about music, Dawgtah said: “I look at music as a conversation. I look at life as a canvas. Look good, go out and laugh the loudest,” he said.
