SAPS and community join hands for blood drive

Members of the public donates blood to spare a life.

The SAPS invited the SANBS to come and collect blood from the members of the SAPS and the public at Southgate Mall in Mondeor on July 21.

The day began with a SAPS briefing where JHB Central Cluster commander Major General Ronnie Rajin applauded SAPS’s hard work in dealing with various projects in the clusters.

The donation of blood started at 9am until 3pm on Saturday with the event ending on Sunday. Kind donors from the public joined the blood drive which saw about 150 people donating blood over the two days.

Thandi Dire, SANBS clinic supervisor, said: “The people showed interest by supporting in donating blood and that makes us as the SANBS grateful. I would like to applaud the members of the public and SAPS because through their blood donation lots of lives will be saved. If we can have initiatives like these now and again it will be beneficial for most of the people that are in need of blood.”
