Moffat View Old Age Home receives food and blankets with a smile

Councillor Faeeza Chame spreads ubuntu spirit on Madiba Day

IGNITING the spirit of ubuntu was what Ward 57 councillor Faeeza Chame was about on Madiba Day as she started with giving away food and blankets at Moffat View Old Age Home on July 18.

Chame started her day with a visit to the home where she was accompanied by her team to help with food and blanket distribution. The elderly were excited to get a special visit from the councillor. The Public Servants Association sponsored food which assisted Chame and her team to feed the elderly on the day. The blankets were donated by Viola Halyhauzen.

Thereafter she visited Springbok informal settlement where soup was given to the residents. After that, she celebrated Madiba Day with Ethiopian nationals who were at My Lillies of Hope Shelter in Rosettenville.

“In celebration of Mandela Day as Ward 57 this year we wanted to refocus and channel our time towards doing things that ignite the spirit of ubuntu, which is one main thing Tata Madiba demonstrated throughout his life. Mandela Day was a day filled with the spirit of ubuntu. Tata Madiba would have been really proud to see how great a legacy he left for many to follow,” said Chame.
