Mama Winnie’s celebration at Turffontein Primary a success

We hope to see them again next year and the event will be bigger and better.

The Solomon Mahlangu Sanco Branch of Ward 55 held its first of its kind event at Turffontein Primary School in memory of uMama Winnie Madikizela Mandela.

The event was a success despite the cold weather. Our utmost gratitude goes to Tshidi Mjoli and Beauty Manyamalala. Without them, we wouldn’t have pulled it off.

We would like to thank the following institutions who donated different items: One Spirit Tavern in Hay Street, Southdale Pick n Pay, Southdale Shopping Centre, Bara City Taxi Association, Texaxaba and Mapondweni Constructions, Ward 124 Clr Mongameli Mnyamane, Ward 55 Clr Rashieda Landis.

We had the following sporting codes: u-13, u-15, u-19, old ladies teams, young girls teams, netball team, morabaraba team and the 800m marathon.

The u-13 tournament was won by Future Stars FC, the u-19 by White City Boys FC and the u-15 again by Future Stars FC.

We gave trophies, gold, silver and bronze medals to award-winning teams. The Gogo United Sanco team won their competition and retained their trophy. Netball was won by Ward 57 team. We would like to congratulate all winning teams and their supporters. We hope to see them again next year and the event will be bigger and better.
