Rats causes issues for Booysens resident

Rats eat Nana’s clothes and food.

NOSIPHO Nana (48) from Booysens is frustrated with a rat infestation in her house and needs help to get rid of the rodents.

Nana has been battling with rats since last year. She thought this was normal if you have food and live in a shack; rats will obviously find their way to the food.

But when her R3 000 vanished she realised this isn’t a normal situation. There was no sign of a break-in and she lives alone. She claims that it had to be the rats that ate her money.

Neighbours are not experiencing the same problem as Nana. She told the COURIER whenever she goes to sleep she can hear them enter her house, the noise these rats make is unbearable. She claims she was bitten by the rats while sleeping. She only realised this when she woke-up seeing blood on her bedding. She says the rats also ate her six-year-old daughter’s clothes.

She tried using poison to kill these unwanted visitors but this has failed.

“When I wake up I chase the rats away but they just stare at me and that terrifies me. What shocked me most was when I killed one rat and was about to remove it, two other rats came and seized the dead rat and took off with it,” Nana said.

“Rats eat my clothes and food, these things even scratch my furniture. How can I live like this? I want to invite friends and relatives to my house but how can I?’’

Nana is appealing to anyone who can help to remove the rats. She can be contacted on 072 338 7881.
