Pikitup is not hiring

Pikitup would like to reiterate that in the event that vacancies are available at the entity such positions would be advertised in newspapers and on its website.

PIKITUP, the waste management company of the City of Johannesburg, distances itself from false social media messages purporting that the waste management entity is hiring staff.

Muzi Mkhwanazi, Pikitup spokesperson, said Pikitup would like to place it on record that it is not hiring and in the event that the entity does indeed hire people such vacancies will be advertised in newspapers and on its website. Therefore, messages purporting that Pikitup is hiring which were circulated via SMS, Twitter and Whatsapp are false and malicious.

“It is saddening that such false messages are circulated through social media with the sole intention of misleading the public, particularly multitudes of job seekers who are desperately searching for work. Job seekers are discouraged and requested to ignore such misleading information and refrain from using their much-needed cash to visit Pikitup offices as a result.

“Pikitup would like to reiterate that in the event that vacancies are available at the entity such positions would be advertised in newspapers and on its website,” explained Muzi.
