Former South’s lass shines on international platform of TED Talks

Nicole was born and raised in Glenvista and relocated to Muscat, Oman in 2011.

NICOLE Smart, a former head girl of Mondeor High School, was one of 10 international speakers invited to share her story at TEDx Muscat Live, on April 28.

The event was attended by more than 200 people who listened to 10 international and national speakers in Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman.

The theme for TED Talks was the age of amazement. Nicole shared her personal story and views on how citizens can make marginal changes within their homes that can help the preservation of resources and energy and therefore, contribute to a greener society.

Nicole, who was born and raised in Glenvista, relocated to Muscat in 2011. She has since played an instrumental role in training and developing Omani nationals and expatriates alike towards the sustainable development of the private sector and closing Omanisation gaps within all levels of management, as well as soft skills development.

She is an international corporate trainer for management and leadership development, a certified development coach, an accredited neuro-linguistic programming practitioner and an international guest speaker on leadership, communication, emotional intelligence and organisational behaviour.

Nicole won the Miss Mondeor High pageant in 1995 and went on to become head girl and chairperson of the Student Representative Council (SRC) in 1996.

Nicole said, “I am very privileged to be invited to host a TED Talks in the Middle East. I can honestly say that I give a large amount of credit to the incredible teachers of Mondeor High School who offered unwavering support and the platform to harness our (students) confidence development both within the classroom as well as on the stage, through the various arts and drama activities.’’
