Please donate dry pet food

Together we can make this happen and ensure the welfare of our animals is well-catered for - AACL.

ANIMAL Anti Cruelty League (AACL) has launched a 60-day pet food drive with the aim of raising 5 000kg of dry pet food to help feed the growing number of animals in their facility.

The initiative began on May 18 and is expected to end on Mandela Day, July 18.

“Each month hundreds of animals enter our Johannesburg facility for many reasons. These include animals that are confiscated from abusive homes, strays and those from homes that sadly can no longer look after them,” said Carren Nickloes from the AACL marketing team.

“These animals consume over 1 300kg of dry pet food monthly, excluding wet food and treats, at a huge cost to the AACL.”

She said one person collecting pet food would make a huge difference to the welfare of animals and that they are calling on different public groups including families, friends, school classes, Scout groups, sports clubs and work colleagues to work together to assist them in a successful execution of the pet food drive.

“Together we can make this happen and ensure the welfare of our animals is well-catered for with sufficient food to take them to the next stage,” Nickloes added.

The organisation also challenged corporates and private individuals to assist them in reaching their goal by collecting bags of dry pet food while wet food and treats remain welcome too.
