Assisting learning in reaching their potential

BLANCHE Cornwell, principal of BC Day Care in Turffontein, founded an after-care programme for school learners in 2008.

The aftercare helps learners with their homework, more especially English, mathematics and Afrikaans because that is where the struggle is Cornwell believes. Primary and secondary learners are taught every day but, currently, they have five learners from high school as well. Cornwell supplies the learners who attend with a sandwich and a juice.

“This is a privilege that I have and I thank God for that. I work with the teachers and principals and parents who seek help for their children. We then all work together to ensure the child gets the help. I love helping children. God gave me this gift. My aim is to help these learners until they reach matric and I want to create a positive impact in their lives,” she said.
