Help to build a hall at Kenilworth High

“If we can even get 10 bags of cement here and 10 there, as long as its material to finish this hall.”

KENILWORTH High School has been the best performing high school in the South, however, they are desperately in need of a hall.

The school which has had a 100 per cent matric pass rate for three consecutive years is one of the smallest and under-resourced schools that cater for a number of underprivileged learners from in and around the South of Johannesburg. They started to build the school on their own three years ago.

Phumzile Gqiba from the school said they need a good Samaritan to come to their rescue.

“We want to finish this hall which we started three years ago. Anyone who wants to help, please come forward and help us to build this hall. If we can even get 10 bags of cement here and 10 there, as long as its material to finish this hall,” she explained.

Kenilworth High School’s first Grade 12s matriculated in 2015 and at the time there were only 75 Grade 12 learners. The Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi visited the school at the time to congratulate them.

During his visit, he wanted to see the school for himself, what makes it so different from any other. He visited each classroom and engaged with the learners with some motivational words, he pledged in the classroom as a reward for their hard work he would ensure the school would be supplied with end-to-end ICT smart boards. The visit to the school took place in 2016 and to date, the smart boards have not been working but the construction has since started.

If you want to assist the school visit them at 172 Kennedy Street, Rosettenville, or call them on 011 683 1416.
