Touching lives with Child Reach Programme

For Rene Parker to build the centre, she will need help with containers, bricks, cement, nets, fencing, sports equipment and clothing and any donations will be appreciated.

CHILD Reach Programme (CRP) visited the Jackson Informal Settlement, Eikenhof, to donate food and clothes on May 12.

But, it was not what they expected. It was devastating to the CRP to see how these people suffer for basic needs. Rene Parker is the founder member of CRP. The programme has been in existence for 12 years with the purpose of helping children with clothing, food, stationery and sports facilities. Parker’s vision is to build a youth and recreation centre for sport. Parker’s visit to Jackson left her stunned as residents fight daily for housing, water and food.

Charlene Moutinho, who is a member of CRP, is going to teach the grannies how to grow vegetables in their garden and help them to sustain their garden at all times. This will help the community of the settlement agriculturally and some of the grannies can establish their own small businesses in the community through this initiative.

Rene is appealing to the community to assist in making the recreation centre a reality. To build the centre they will need help with containers, bricks, cement, nets, fencing, sports equipment and clothing and any other donations will be appreciated.
