The DJ with a mission

He wants to see the youngsters doing creative and dynamic things other than idling in the corners of the streets.

BORN and bred in Regents Park, Dumisani ‘DJ Tumza’ Dube (34) wants to transform his area to be vibrant and productive.

He wants to see the youngsters doing creative and dynamic things other than idling on the corners of the streets. DJ Tumza cannot believe an area like Regents Park does not have a community hall where they can gather and help each other honing skills they have.

“Youngsters need to have a place to go to after school; a place with various facilities where they can improve themselves. Talent is in abundance in this area and we don’t want it to go to waste or get swallowed up by drugs which are all over this place,” he said.

DJ Tumza has been doing music since 2003, playing at weddings, birthday parties and corporate gigs to name a few. He is well known in the South.

“We are role models and we want to be used to influence our youth to do good in life, however, we do not have the resources. We are powerless. That is why I am pleading with authorities in this area to hear us and help us succeed in building this nation.

“Music is universal and the youth love it. Let’s use the music as a conduit to a better future for our youth. Let’s have a place where we can teach them how to produce, to sing, manage themselves, etc. We can do this provided we are supported in all respects,” explained DJ Tumza.

He currently works with 109 Productions and BSS on the move. On June 30, fun will meet art at Southside Market, 270 Turf Road, La Rochelle.

“This is where we showcase our talent. There will be music, craft, food, fashion and entertainment. Our Rosettenville grown hip-hop artist Stilo Magolide will be the headline act,” he said.

DJ Tumza believes he can be the catalyst for the much-needed change in the youth of the South. For more information, he can be contacted on 083 526 1633.
