How to avoid self-sabotage

Losing a game is painful but losing because you scored own goals makes it even worse.

“Self-sabotage is when we say we want something and then go about making sure it doesn’t happen.” – Alyce P Cornyn-Selby

Losing a game is painful but losing because you scored own goals makes it even worse. We all want to win but how we play is mostly against that wish, we are self-sabotaging.

How many of the 24 hours in a day do you spend with yourself, one-on-one, in silence – not in front of your television set, friends, loved ones, cellphone, music or any kind of distraction? Take the last two days and really ask yourself this question and honestly write the answer down. This question occupied my time the last two days. This will help you get perspective.

Most of us get stuck in our lives from time to time and others have even given themselves up to certain unhealthy situations. The truth is, giving yourself to an unhealthy situation that you can solve but fear the consequences is a serious mistake.

To avoid scoring own goals, you need to ask yourself these following questions:

• Would I still choose my career/job?

• Would I still choose my current friends?

• Would I still choose my current relationship?

• Would I still follow this crowd?

• Would I still eat the kind the kind of food I eat?

If the answer to your question is no, then your next two questions should be:

• How do I get myself out of this situation or solve this problem?

• How soon do I get out of this unhealthy situation?

The more you delay on the above, the more you are self-sabotaging. The world has long been waiting for your greatness.
