Hijacked vehicle found in Oakdene townhouse complex

The discovery took place on Monday afternoon, April 16 after SAPS had been trying to locate a tracking device, which kept fading.

A hijacked Audi A4 (white) with false registration plates was discovered in a townhouse complex in Letaba Road, Eastcliff, Oakdene, as well as two firearms (9mm pistols), housebreaking implements, ID books, car keys and vehicle registration plates.

DISCOVERED: Moffat View Police members looking through the goods which had been found in the Audi A4.

The discovery took place on Monday afternoon, April 16 after SAPS had been trying to locate a tracking device, which kept fading. “The suspects had a jammer in the car which makes the tracking device weak, so we were having problems following it,” said Capt J Phora from Moffat View Police Station. Eventually the signal was picked up in the afternoon and the police located the vehicle in the complex.

FOUND: The two firearms and the jammer which were found in the vehicle.

“Two 9mm pistols were found in the vehicle as well as ID documents and housebreaking implements. We are following positive leads and an arrest is imminent,” Capt Phora said.

“It looks like it could be a group of suspects we are looking for and as well as the Audi A4 we discovered a BMW under a tarpaulin sheet, parked next to the Audi,” Capt Phora added.

If you have any information which could lead to the arrests of the suspects, please phone Moffat View Police Station on 011 415 1500 or 0860 10111.
