Nomeva in top condition ahead of TLB’s debut event

TLB Boxing Promotions are preparing for the night of ‘firsts’.

Both Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni and TLB Boxing Promotions are preparing for the night of ‘firsts’ on April 6.

The unbeaten former world champion ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni faces Namibian opponent Abraham Ndaendopa in a vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) lightweight title contest at the Time Square in Menlyn, Pretoria.

It’s a night of firsts because it’s going to be to Ndongeni’s first fight under TLB Promotions and also the first time the KwaBhaca-born boxer fights under Team Smith. It’s also going to be TLB Promotions’ first tournament.

“I want to be active, that’s what I can say. Luckily, I’m getting a world title shot. I think it is a great thing and will take me up further from now on,” Ndogeni said ahead of the Ndaendopa fight.

“I’m working and training with Team Smith. It’s a different environment and I’m adjusting to everything. At training, you learn a new thing every day.”

Erstwhile International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-featherweight champion Lehlohonolo ‘Hands of Stone’ Ledwaba, who is one of the partners at TLB Promotions, said they are looking forward to their first ever tournament. “Yes, we are back. We have been given a chance to promote an international title. So we felt that we need to have a boxer of Ndongeni’s calibre. We are here to make sure we market him in a good way. If he wins he might go to the States in July or August.”
