Ex-cop arrested for murder

It is alleged that the two (deceased and suspect) had an argument over beer crates.

ON March 31 at about 9pm, Moffat View SAPS arrested a 47-year-old former police officer following an alleged stabbing and fatal wounding of a woman in North Road, Moffat View.

The 47-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene by paramedics and as a result, a murder case has been opened.

It is alleged that the two (deceased and suspect) had an argument over beer crates.

“I just heard the deceased screaming and went to check. Upon arrival she then indicated that the police officer had stabbed her,” said an eyewitness.

The police officer appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder on April 3 and his case was postponed for both formal bail application and further police investigations.The suspect was remanded in custody while police await a new court date.

In a separate incident, Moffat View SAPS are appealing to the community to help them identify the body of a woman who was discovered by a passer-by on the corner of Wemmer Pan Road and N17 on April 3 at about 7.10am.

Next to the deceased, who was wearing blue denim jeans and a black and white top, police recovered a black wig and a black handbag.

Police could not identify any visible injuries on the deceased however they await the outcome of the autopsy to determine the cause of death.

No arrests have been made and investigations are underway.
