Evictions and arrests tackled

WARD 124 Clr Mngameli Mnyameni convened a meeting on March 24 to address the issues of evictions and arrests that have happened in his ward recently.

He said key stakeholders were invited to be part of the meeting, like City of Joburg.

“You will remember that immediately after people were arrested, mayor Mashaba made a statement saying he is happy because he has arrested more than 25 people and gave back four properties to the alleged rightful owners. I have also invited auctioneers, sheriff’s, SAPS, JMPD and the forensic team to be part of this meeting, however, no one has honoured the invite. And that is what has angered the community,” he said.

During the meeting, they managed to appoint the committee from within the members of the community to work with the councillor in finding the solution to all these problems.

“And I’ll convene another meeting soon where everyone will be present. The community said they had enough now about the house hijackings and evictions that lead to the arrest of their family members,” he said.
