A massive thank you to all the learners and staff from Cross-Over Remedial who were good sports and wore their funky mismatched socks to raise awareness of Down Syndrome.
Besides it being Human Rights Day, March 21 is also Down Syndrome Awareness Day. It’s a global event within the Down Syndrome community because March 21 symbolises Trisomy 21. Simply put, the third month of the year, March, symbolises the third or extra chromosome that pair number 21 has. To explain, all of us humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes in every cell of our body. In folks with Trisomy 21 (the most common form of Down Syndrome), pair number 21 of those 23 pairs, somehow expresses with three chromosomes instead of the usual two.
Thank you so much.
