Unroadworthy taxis impounded

One driver was using a pair of pliers as a gear lever.

JOHANNESBURG Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) impounded 26 taxis on Main Road in Rosettenville on March 20.

Some were obstructing traffic flow, some were unlicensed and others were not roadworthy.

“The owners will have to pay pound fees of R2 850 per taxi,” said JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minnaar.
