A joint awareness campaign was held in Rosettenville on March 20

A JOINT awareness campaign was held in Rosettenville on March 20, where the police, CoJ departments, community organisations and businesses came together to raise awareness of the community of their surroundings.

Booysens and Moffat View SAPS (with their youth desks and CPFs), JMPD, Environmental Health Department, Alcohol and Drug Concerns, Kenilworth Spar, Cash Crusaders and the Southern Business Community Forum mobilised the community and talked about their safety in Main Street.

Booysens SAPS Warrant Officer Gerhard Cornelius (social crime prevention coordinator) said this was part of police visibility in the area.

“We are talking to ordinary people on the street about crime, fraud and the prevention of social ills. Also the business people in the area are included,” he said.

Moffat View SAPS Constable Desiree Nose (social crime prevention coordinator) gave the community safety tips.

The police noted that victims of car-jacking are usually people visiting and sitting in the cars in driveways.

The community was urged to be alert, safe and not be victims of crime.
