Cake decorators give to old age homes

“We reached our target of 380 with leftover Easter eggs to sweeten the day for everyone.”

WITH Easter approaching, the Wits South Branch of the South African Cake Decorators Guild has chosen the elderly of the South for its charity drive 2018.

PRO Anabela Verissimo immediately began looking at various old age homes and came back with a figure of 380 residents who would receive pamper hampers for Easter.

With kind sponsorship from HNS, Contract Packaging, Prime Pro, T3 Tiger Brands and donations from the community, this has been made possible and thanks go out to all of those who helped.

“A special thank you to Anabela for her passion and drive, and her family for assisting with the packaging,” said Ursula Tizzone, a member of the Wits South Branch of the South African Cake Decorators Guild.

At the monthly meeting, which was held on March 17, members set up a conveyor system to fill packets with water bottles, plastic bowls, cups and plates, toiletries and Easter eggs. Everyone entered into the spirit of giving, with lots of laughter and good cheer.

“We reached our target of 380 with leftover Easter eggs to sweeten the day for everyone,” said Anabela.

The packets of goodies were taken by the guild’s members, who donned bunny ears, to Annie Burger Old Age Home, Bellavista Home and Jafta, on March 21.

The guild meets every third Saturday of the month at St Paul’s United Church, Mulbarton. For further information please phone Eleanor Casey on 083 268 4588 or Ursula Tizzone on 083 272 7140.
