Mayfield Park petrol station safe bombed

They terrorised the staff.

TWELVE men bombed the Mayfield Park service station safe on Wednesday morning.

It is unclear if the men were successful in their cash heist attempt.

The manager of the service station, who asked to remain anonymous, said the 12 men barged into the store around 0.45am and terrorised the staff.

The manager said the employees are still traumatised from the ordeal but also confirmed no injuries were reported.

He said the garage would be closed until further notice due to apparent damage.

Entrances to the service station have been cordoned off with police tape sending a clear sign to motorists that the garage remains closed.

On Wednesday morning around 8.30am, staff and a few people were seen cleaning the damage caused by the 12 assailants.

It has been confirmed by SAPS that the gang is believed to have targeted several stations in the area.

Mondeor police spokesperson Captain Nokulunga Dube said she would send out a statement as soon as possible which will hopefully also shed light on whether the suspects got away with cash.

The statement will be published as soon as received.
