Taxi ploughs into tree in South Hills

TWO people were miraculously freed from a deadly crash when a taxi ploughed into a tree on Southern Klipriviersberg Road in South Hills, south of Johannesburg on January 30.

One person sustained serious injuries and another person sustained minor injuries after the taxi crashed into a tree, according to ER24 spokesperson, Ineke van Huyssteen.

She said medics arrived to find one of the two trapped in the taxi. The fire department had to extricate him from the wreckage.

“Upon further assessment, paramedics found the patient had sustained serious injuries. According to bystanders, the driver of the taxi could not be found at the scene.”

She said medical services transported the injured to hospital.

The cause of the accident is still unknown.
