Music and dance highlights pageant
Entries are now open to women between the ages of 17 and 27 who are not married and who are not parents.
A SPECIAL dance sequence as a memorable tribute to the Gandhi Walk will be the curtain-raiser in this year’s Miss India Gauteng Pageant at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City on March 17.
The music and the dance are being arranged by the Culture India Pageant which is hosting the event in recognition of the organisers of the Gandhi Walk who, for more than four decades, have brought the embattled people of Lenasia onto the streets to enjoy their natural environment.
Spokesperson Mrs Preetha Nanhoo said that the Gandhi Walk has done a great deal to unite the community and its neighbours. “It has also highlighted Lenasia and its people and has put their profile on the international platform as those South Africans who work for peace, a better quality of life and promote happiness,” said Mrs Nanhoo.
The contestants who meet for the first time on Saturday, February 3, will perform the four-minute dance sequence. Entries are now open to women between the ages of 17 and 27 who are not married and who are not parents. They should have a talent. There are four sequences, namely western, eastern, talent, question and answer.
The top six finalists chosen will be flown to Durban on November 28 for an all-expenses-paid trip to take part in the Miss India South Africa Pageant, which will take place on December 1 this year.
