Be vigilant, stay safe

The SAPS urges individuals, groups and businesses to take extra care when withdrawing or carrying large amounts of cash.

MONDEOR Police Station commander, Colonel JJ Bezuidenhoudt, has cautioned that the festive season generally sees a high level of economic activity, which increases the opportunities for criminals to take advantage of unsuspecting victims.

Bezuidenhoudt urges communities and businesses to be extra vigilant and to increase security where possible over this period.

In particular, the SAPS appeals to individuals, groups and businesses to take extra care when withdrawing or carrying large amounts of cash. Communities and businesses are encouraged to make use of banking facilities and refrain from keeping cash on the premises. Cooperation with police sector managers is also encouraged.

“We are optimistic the full collaborative efforts of the SAPS, the business fraternity and community members will yield the desired results in curbing these robberies,” said Bezuidenhoudt.

“Mondeor SAPS is committed to ensuring that all people within the Mondeor policing area are safe during this festive season. However, this only can be achieved if individual businesses and communities cooperate with the police in heeding these proactive warnings.”
