Bikers with a cause

“We asked what we could do to help and they told us. Now we are here.”

A PACK of bikers arrived at an animal shelter in the south of Johannesburg to deliver an early Christmas gift to orphaned ‘man’s best friend’.

The Hell Razors bikers from the Home of the Hell Razors Bike Club took it upon themselves to do something special for the animals at the Animal Anti Cruelty League (AACL) centre in Regents Park on November 26.

The bikers, who pride themselves on conducting charity work annually, said they decided the animals needed early Christmas presents.

CAREGIVING: Jonathan Knight from the Hell Razors bikers plays with the cats at AACL.

Organiser Jonathan Knight said every year the bike club does something special to give back to their communities.

“We decided to contact the animal shelter and asked what we could do to help and they told us. Now we are here.”

Knight said the club began collecting pet food and over two tons were collected and delivered to the animal centre.

TEAMWORK: The Hell Razors bikers donated food to AACL.

He said the bike club would continue to work with AACL as they help animals that could not speak up for themselves.

Hell Razors chairman Warwick Railton said when Knight pitched the idea, he couldn’t say no.

“We’re always striving to make a difference. We are animal lovers and to be a part of making a difference is one thing we stand up for.”

DONATION: The bikers left tons of animal food at the AACL centre.

Railton told the COURIER that three of their bikers had begun adoption proceedings. He said one of the three had found their lost dog at the shelter.

After delivering cat food, toys and dog treats the bikers said goodbye to AACL in a roaring sendoff.

COLLECT: Donations were received with open arms.
