Dumping causes damage

The wall finally collapsed in February this year.

THE collapsed wall behind pensioner Joseph Mabaso’s house has been a thorn in the flesh for his family. They feel unsafe and vulnerable.

The wall finally collapsed in February this year. According to Joseph, the problem of dumping has been there for over 15 years. He said almost everyone, including the residents living in a dilapidated flats, dump on the service lane.

“Dumping was the major cause. It made my wall collapse. The service lane was filled with dirt, weeds and trees; my wall couldn’t handle the pressure. I spoke to Ward 56 Clr Michael Crichton, who promised to resolve this, but nothing has materialised,” he said.

Ward 56 Clr Michael Crichton was contacted for comment.
