Moffat View SAPS arrested 27 suspects for various crimes.

During the week of October 1 to 9, Moffat View SAPS arrested 27 suspects for various crimes: Armed robbery – one, attempted murder – one, assault common – one, assault common under domestic violence – two, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm – two, car-jacking – one, drunken driving – two, fraud – one, house break-in and theft – two, malicious damage to property – one, possession of dagga – five, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle – two, shoplifting – three and theft – three.

One suspect arrested for copper cables

A man arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods was taken to Moffatview SAPS on October 15.

At about 2:20am, security officer from SOS, Alex Bathandwa Ruba, received a phone call from the control room that there was a suspicious looking vehicle parked in the bush next to the construction site in Gillview.

Sgt Jabulile Mncwango and Sgt Zitha attended the scene with the security officer. They found a man inside the bakkie that was loaded with copper cable pipes, a generator and gas bottles for welding. When they asked the man about the load on the bakkie, he said he knew nothing about the stuff but was hired as a driver of the truck.

Drunken driving operation

Eleven suspects were arrested for drunken driving on October 14, when the JMPD together with Moffat View SAPS members held a roadblock on Southrand and Tennyson roads. The roadblock lasted from 12midnight to 4am.
