Grade Ones dazzle with science project

At only six years old the young learners explained how water filters through cotton, a few pebbles and sand in order to be purified.

A BUBBLY bunch of Grade Ones could not hold back their excitement as they showcased their work after making a water purifying filter.

The water filter was part of a campaign by the Department of Education to educate young pupils on methods they can use to help save the planet.

The Townsview Grade Ones who came fifth among Johannesburg South schools saw this as a learning curve to become better.

Their teacher Ms Gwen Maurice said she was thrilled that the young pupils were so driven to learn and teach others about methods to save the planet.

She said coming fifth was a huge achievement.

At only six years of age the young learners explained to the COURIER how water is filtered through cotton, pebbles and sand in order to be purified. The young pupils elaborated extremely well under Ms Maurice’s guidance.
