UPDATE: Father in court for death of 5-year-old

The five-year-old was found with fatal bruises on August 31.

A 35-year-old man who is accused of murdering his five-year-old son remains behind bars after his brief court appearance in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on October 4.

He will remain in jail until his next court appearance on October 30.

The court date was remanded to October 30 awaiting the postmortem results.

The five-year-old was found with bruises on August 31.

One of the aunts to the five-year-old said she hoped justice would be served.

She said the family was taking his death hard.

“He grew up in front of us and everyone in our neighborhood will tell you that he was a well-behaved boy,” she said.
