A visit to Nizamiye Mosque

All the tiles and beautiful windows were imported from Turkey.

SOMETHING out of the ordinary was enjoyed by some of the women’s group, Circle of Friends, on September 19 when they went to visit the Nizamiye Mosque in Midrand.

The morning was very interesting and one of the guide’s took the women around the mosque, but not before enjoying a customary cup of tea. The mosque took three years to build, with constructions workers working around the clock to get it finished. All the tiles and beautiful windows were imported from Turkey.

THREE YEARS TO BUILD: Nizamiye Mosque, which is situated in Midrand.

On the property is the Mosque, a school as well as a clinic, some shops and a bakery. The guide explained some traditions as well as how they prepare for those coming to pray at certain times of the day. The mosque has an open door policy and anyone is most welcome to come and enjoy a tour.

“We had a wonderful time and it is certainly well worth a visit,” said Hilda Theck, from the group.
