ROSETTENVILLE Clinic had its open day on September 7, under the slogan: Free access to health care – Prevention is better than cure.
The main activity on the day was screening, which included a road to health card, pap smear, blood pressure, HIV and TB screening. More than 50 patients where tested for blood pressure, HIV and TB and several women had their pap smear done.
Several departments, NGO’s and businesses had pamphlets available on the day to enlighten the community on environmental health and pest control issues, drugs and alcohol, crime and safety, recycling, health promotional information and local business initiatives.
The clinic’s sister Maria Morare enlightened the community on services rendered at the clinic. Ward 56 Clr Michael Crichton was also available to address challenges and handle queries from the community regarding the ward. The children from Hollywood Star situated next to the clinic also attended the event.
Other stakeholders who participated were: Environmental Health, Rosettenville Clinic staff, Pest Control, Pikitup, Moffat View SAPS, Alcohol and Drugs Concern, Spar Kenilworth, The Hill Awareness Group (THAG), Clr Michael Crichton, Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (WRHI) and US AID.
