Butchered woman’s case continues

Biney had according to family members stabbed Kigiongo 15-times in front of her children.

FIVE months on and a family still claims no justice is in sight after their family members’ brutal death when she was butchered and stabbed 15-times.

Mother of four Martina Kigiongo (24) was stabbed by accused Ghanaian man William Biney (52) who appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on August 30.

According to one of the family members, a Johannesburg Magistrate judge ruled that Biney should return to court on October 11 for his bail hearing.

Cherry Amij Tshibamba told the COURIER the justice system was taking a very long time to serve justice.

Biney was arrested in March following an altercation with Kigiongo.

Biney had, according to family members, stabbed Kigiongo 15 times in front of her children.

According to Moffat View SAPS spokesperson constable Mikateko Bila, Biney was to undergo psychiatric evaluation by order of the court.

He first appeared in court on March 27, again on April 3, July 12 and August 30.

His mental state was still to be confirmed since his court appearance last week.

The 52-year-old Biney alleged Kigiongo stole R15 000 from his property yet police could only confirm R10 000 missing.

Husband Rocky Mukendi said he had many questions regarding the murder.

Mukendi said he was now only focusing on his children who needed support. He added that he was struggling financially and needed help.

Kigiongo was stabbed in the back with a knife while she was drinking tea with a friend in Rosettenville. She was carrying one of her friend’s children at the time. The child was dropped as Kigiongo fell to the ground trying to flee the attack.

According to the witness’ friend – who asked not to be named – the accused continued thrusting the knife in her back.

She collapsed on top of her friend and when she turned to face the culprit, she was stabbed in the neck.

Police later discovered she had also bee struck in the face.

She died shortly after in hospital.

Biney remained in custody after his court appearance.
