Keeping fit fun

“The Fitness League’s motto is Movement is Life and we believe everyone should be doing exercise in one form or another no matter what your age."

THE Fitness League is celebrating 60 years in Johannesburg this year and issued Long Membership awards to members who have ‘moved’ with them for a good number of years.

“The Fitness League’s motto is ‘Movement is Life’ and we believe everyone should be doing exercise in one form or another no matter your age. We also believe exercise should be enjoyed, and should be done with a group of people you feel comfortable with.

“We attribute long memberships in the classes to this feeling of friendship and take pride in welcoming new members who are usually introduced by members through word of mouth. We also have a number of mother and daughter members and hope to see this trend continue for years to come.

“To celebrate our 60th Anniversary we staged a cabaret at the Roosevelt Recreation Centre and Dave Abbott and Vanessa Palm entertained our members, family and friends with an upbeat show called “Come to the Cabaret”.

“Certificates for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 60 years’ attendance were awarded to members. How many gyms have this sort of record to brag about?” asks Melissa Massey (Fitness League teacher at a local venue).
