Cakes, cupcakes, candy and popcorn were handed out free of charge to children under the age of 12 who came to visit the daycare on July 21.

Day care principal and the first lady of Skully’s MCC Bike Club, Melody Ford, said the initiative was to celebrate the children and make them happy.

FUN: Melody Ford enjoys jumping on the jumping castle with the children.

“The idea is to give back to the community and spoil the children. These days too many children don’t have much to look forward to.”

She said the event was a cake and candy fun day for children from all over Elandspark.

The fun-filled festivities began around 9am and ran until 2pm when hot dogs and Milo were served for lunch.

Ford said the children were exhausted from jumping on the jumping castle – sponsored by the bike club – by the day’s end. One of the parents, Amid Brown, said her daughter Alisha enjoyed the day a whole lot.

The day’s sweets and jumping castle were all sponsored by Skully’s MCC Bike Club.
