Mandela Day fun at the Lighthouse

“This is our 67 minutes for Mandela Day, and it means a lot to us to be able to spend time here,” said Rehana Carim, who organised the visit.

IMPERIAL Tipper Resources from Germiston paid a visit to The Lighthouse Stimulation Centre for the Disabled, in Linmeyer, on Mandela Day, July 18.

Staff members brought along lots of goodies including groceries, toiletries and diapers, which were welcomed by Lucilia Jacinto who runs The Lighthouse.

Not only did the staff bring the donations but enjoyed time with the children and young adults, giving them lunch too. “This is our 67 minutes for Mandela Day, and it means a lot to us to be able to spend time here,” said Rehana Carim who organised the visit.

“This is absolutely fantastic and will keep us going for a while. We are ever so grateful for these donations and your time spent with us here today,” said Lucilia.

Fun games were played and lunch was enjoyed before the team from Imperial Tipper Resources said their goodbyes. “It was such a pleasure to visit,” added Rehana.

The Lighthouse is an NPO organisation which not only provides physical, occupational and speech therapy for children and young adults, but computer lessons as well. Care is offered after school as well as during school holidays. Three well-balanced meals are provided daily and it also offers hostel facilities from Monday to Friday. Care is also offered on weekends, should parents need a break or want to run an errand.
