Trigger happy taxi driver sentenced

The taxi driver refused to give passengers change, shot at them and then ran away.

A TAXI driver who shot and injured three passengers after refusing to give them change for their fare and then ran away from the scene was recently sentenced to 36 years in jail, in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

Bhekabantu Jobe was transporting passengers from Faraday to Glenvista on Sunday, March 13, last year, when the incident happened on the corner of Andrea and Amanda roads, in Glenanda North. Jobe was arrested two days later.

W/O Themba Mdlalose, of Moffat View SAPS, thanked the community for helping with the police investigation which secured the conviction and imprisonment of Jobe.
