Mrs SA semi-finalist is a Mulbarton girl

Mrs South Africa semi-finalist - she is smart and ambitious and cares about her family and community.

THE top 100 semi-finalists of the Mrs South Africa pageant have been announced and the South is proud to present its own Gertrude Tseki, from Mulbarton.

Born in Katlehong and raised in Phuthaditjhaba Qwaqwa, Gertrude is one of five children.

“I am from a child-headed family since my dad, Lucas Paki Mofokeng, died when I was six years old and my mom, Nomthandozo Christinah Mofokeng, had to go work in Gauteng. I adore the bravery of my mom as she had to risk our safety with the intention to take full responsibility of raising us. That is where I got my bravery from – my mom and my childhood – and I thank God for my childhood since it made me who I am; a strong woman, mother and wife with no regrets at all,” said Gertrude.

Living in Mulbarton since 2011, Gertrude is married to Ramajwe (Rami) Tseki, a laboratory manager at the University of Witwatersrand, and is the proud mother to three beautiful daughters, Palesa (24), Bophelo (17) and Kemolemo (16).

“I am proud to say that I am blessed to have such a loving husband and children who are always behind me to ensure that I realise my potential to the fullest,” said Gertrude.

Gertrude wants to establish private schools nationally and internationally for learners with special educational needs as a solution to the current lack of capacity by the national education department.

Mrs South Africa offers married South African women who have real-life careers, families and hobbies the chance to compete for the prestigious title. Glamour and sophistication are part of the criteria, but the women who enter and win all have stories people can relate to and want to hear.

The Mrs South Africa pageant is about giving unsung superwomen a chance to get support and give input, and a platform to reach a new level of success and visibility on a global stage.
