Learners receive book donations in the South Hills

The school was selected as the beneficiary after an article was seen in the COURIER about its desire to re-open the library to help improve learners' literacy.

LEARNERS and teachers at Suidheuwels Primary School were all smiles on Friday, March 3, when Reading Matters donated books to help the school revive its library.

The library had been closed for 30 years.

Reading Matters is one of the leading distributors and suppliers of educational books and resources in South Africa. It also develops new educational materials for South African learners that are relevant, tested and effective. Reading Matters’ goal is to inspire imagination and curiosity through exciting stories.

The school was selected as the beneficiary after an article was seen in the COURIER about its desire to re-open the library to help improve learners’ literacy.

According to Reading Matters, the quality of books selected and distributed reflect the best examples of children’s literature available today. The books offer a rich language experience and are relevant to children in that they reflect their world and help them move beyond it.
