Baking for St Mary’s a success

Whether you are a skilled baker or just baking for the fun of it, this is your chance to show off your skills

BEAUTIFUL creations of gingerbread and sweets were dropped off at St Mary’s Children’s Home for Christmas.

In December 2016, Sonja van Niekerk from Tiny Town Academy in Brackendowns launched a Gingerbread House Competition, with proceeds going to St Mary’s. Together with this, residents also had the opportunity to drop financial donations into the St Mary’s money box or bring donations in kind.

Bakers had the choice to put their baking skills to test in either a fun or experienced baker competition, and let’s just say, all bakers had loads of fun and proved to be extremely creative.

The winners of the competition were announced on Friday, December 23, and the floating trophy was snatched up by Angelique and Tiaan Niewhout and Marc and Jane van In, who proved that a team effort in creativity can be a great one.

Cakes donated by the bakers, together with other donations, were taken to St Mary’s for the children to enjoy on Christmas Day.
