Tekkie Tax 2016 a success

Various awards were given to the hard-working contributors, who helped raised this amazing amount of money.

TEKKIE Tax is proud to announce that it’s celebrating the results of the 2016 campaign, which saw South Africans came together and raise a whopping R8,4 million on Friday May 27.

This unique fundraising campaign is now standing at a total of more than R22 million over the last four years. Tekkie Tax raises funds for five sectors, namely: Animals, Bring Hope, Children, Disability and Education.

The second reason for celebration, was the launch of the brand new Tekkie Tax Mascot, called Happy. Happy is a gorgeous little character with a massive green heart. He’ll travel across the country with the Tekkie Tax team and you might even be so lucky to meet him.

A breakfast at Indaba Hotel, Fourways was attended by nearly 400 beneficiary organisations, companies, celebrities and the business ambassadors for each sector; hosted by the hilarious Mr Roland Styles. Various awards were given to the hard-working contributors, who helped raised this amazing amount of money.

449 Companies participated in 2015 – but Tekkie Tax had an astounding 952 companies on board in 2016; and more than 100 000 pairs of shoelaces were sold this year. Of all participating companies, FNB sold the highest number of stickers and tags.

Amongst businesses, Tekkie Tax 2016 was acclaimed – celebrity ambassadors included Jack Parrow (animals), Lawrence Sephaka (Bring Hope), The Flooze (Children), Jade Hubner (Disability) and Linda Mali (Education). They supported the Campaign in various ways.

The Founder and Patron of Tekkie Tax, Annelise de Jager, said: “I’m extremely grateful for the growth that this campaign has shown over the past four years but most of all, I’m proud to see the difference that we’re making in the lives of people and animals. Thank you to each and every one of our thousands and thousands of supporters!”

For the Tekkie Tax team there’s no rest. They’re already working full steam on the 2017 Campaign. Calls for commitment have already gone out to various businesses, welfare organisations, schools and every person who can, to support the campaign for 2017.
