Youngsters show class at gymnastic games

Two 14 year old grade 8 students from Suideroord North took part in the artistic gymnastics.

GOMOLEMO Morodi and Quintin d’Hotman de Villiers, who were selected to represent Gauteng, participated at the 2016 South African Gymnast Games which took place on October 8 in Cape Town.

The two 14-year-old grade 8 students from Suideroord North took part in the artistic gymnastics for boys’ 13- to-15-years category.

Morodi competed in level 6 and placed second overall at the regional competition, receiving medals on all six apparatus. He placed fourth at provincials, receiving two medals on apparatus and placed 12th out of 33 boys at nationals, winning the rings, second on high bar and fifth on parallel bar.

D’Hotman de Villiers competed in level 7 and placed first overall at regional, receiving three first and three second places on the six apparatus. He placed first overall at provincials, receiving medals for three first and three third positions. Quintin managed to win the nationals with a first place on rings and high bar, second on parallel bar, fourth on pommel and two fifth places for vault and floor.

Both gymnasts have done extremely well and have been awarded their Central Gauteng Gymnastics senior colours as well as provincial colours.
